This imperial shaped yo-yo is made from ancient Russian Bog Oak wood, carbon dated 3,720 (+/- 50) years old. See attached image of the actual Ukrainian carbon dating lab certificate.
Bog Oak is not a specific species, but rather, a term used to designate oak that has been buried in a peat bog for hundreds or sometimes thousands of years. The extremely low oxygen conditions of the bog protect the wood from normal decay, while the surrounding peat provides acidic conditions where iron salts and other minerals react with the tannins in the wood, gradually giving it a distinct dark brown to almost black color.
This very unusual, and perfectly balanced work of yo-yo art measures about 2.25" x 2.20" and weighs 37 grams (1.3 ounces) with string. No glue is used to hold the sides and axle together (fixed axle)...it's all one piece, a YoYoSpin design trademark. Rubber rings inlaid into each side of the yoyo help avoid damage from impacts with the floor. Each side looks the same, as shown in the front, back and side views.
Includes gift bag, clear acrylic display shown in photos, extra string and a copy of the pictured Ukrainian carbon dating lab certificate.
For the collector of fine and unusual wooden toys or old school fixed axle yoyo players. This item is not intended for use by children 3 years of age or younger. Buy two or more items and save on shipping cost.
